The Battlefield Trial
As part of the project, we plan to create a new digital Battlefield Trail to guid visitors around the site.
The new trail will feature marker posts along the footpaths, each providing a QR code which can be scanned to access information and guidence on the spot.
The new Battlefield Trail is not operational yet, but keep an eye on this page for information as we complete work on site.
In the mean time it is still possible to visit the site, but please follow the guidance below:
Visitor Guidance
- Roadside parking is extremely limited, so it is best to park in the centre of Wooler and walk to Homildon Hill.
- Maps and guidance are available in the Cheviot Centre in Wooler.
- An information board is sited at the gate at the start of the footpath. This will be updated as part of the ongoing work.
- Please keep to the footpath at all times. This is private land and access is only granted on the public footpath itself.
- Livestock are present in the fields surrounding the footpath. Please leave all gates as you found them and ALWAYS keep dogs on a lead AT ALL TIMES.
- It is also possible to walk to Homildon from Wooler Common, where there is an ample car-park.
